Presented to James Smith K9APR By American Radio Relay League Central Division Indiana Section. on this 18th day of November, in the Year 2000. For Outstanding Achievement in Amateur Radio & A.P.R.S. (Automatic Position Reporting Systems) |
| James Smith, K9APR , has been the outstanding expertise
in the Automatic Position Reporting System (APRS) mode not only for our
state but for the Ohio & Kentucky as well. It is from this his dedication
to the Amateur radio hobby and the commitment to Technical expertise that
Amateur's from the tri-state area and nationally have enjoyed the advancements
of APRS introduced by James. He has spent many hours traveling to club
meetings in all three states and just as much time giving APRS demonstrations.
James has single handily pursued the creation of packet digi systems
in Indiana for the advancement of Automatic Position Reporting System. His personal expertise is highly regarded as exceptional in the field and peers are seeking advice and guidance on a weekly basis. Amateur's in the State needed a special project to help keep Ham radio alive here in Indiana. James has provided this capability, without regard for the time and effort required during the past three years; he has accomplished all of this on his own time and at enormous expense. For His achievements in APRS and contributions to Amateur Radio the ARRL and Indiana Section present James Smith , K9APR, with this "Special Achievement Award"... |
