H. Award Categories and Criteria:

* Public Service Excellence

The Public Service Excellence award is to be presented to the Young Amateur who best exemplifies the power of Amateur Radio to serve the public in Indiana. There are any number of service opportunities: weather nets, traffic handling, emergency response, parades, public events, and so forth. Let's recognize Young Amateurs who have really represented themselves and Amateur Radio favorably to the general public we serve.

* Amateur Radio Enjoyment Excellence

The Amateur Radio Enjoyment Excellence award is to be presented to the Young Amateur whose activities best enable other amateurs and non-amateurs to enjoy Amateur Radio more: a contest organizer, a person who runs a
Kid's Day special event or a Jamboree On The Air site, or the tireless Field Day assistant, among many other possibilities. Let's recognize Young Amateurs who really, really help make Amateur Radio a lot more fun.

* Technical Creation Excellence

The Technical Creation Excellence award is to be presented to the Young Amateur who best carries on the classic ham tradition of creative equipment construction and technical experimentation. Anyone can get a station on the
air using only store-bought gear, but some come up with new circuits, new antennas, new software and modes, new repeater accessories, and a galaxy of other innovative possibilities. Let's recognize Young Amateurs who show the urge to fiddle, to tweak, to make nifty gadgets, who show their potential for growing Amateur Radio out of the Twentieth and into the Twenty-First Century.

* Amateur Radio Promotion Excellence

The Amateur Radio Promotion Excellence award is to be presented to the Young Amateur who best serves as an example attracting others to become hams. This person may have been the mover in starting a ham club at a
public school, or a catalyst in a Scout troop or a homeschooling group. Let's recognize Young Amateurs who effectively promote Amateur Radio to their peers.
