Community Day Displays |
| Marion County ARES was asked by Emergency Management to join the Department
of Public Service in several Community Day events. These events are
to help in making the community aware of public safety and emergency preparedness.
The hams volunteering were ARES EC N9FEB - Mike Palmer, K9MCM - Don McMorrine, and K9RAG - Richard Gerber. There are 5 events throughout Marion County hosted by the Department of Public Safety; police & fire departments show their wares and many other agencies hand out items that will help citizens in emergencies. The ARES group handed out Skywarn & Storm Spotter pamphlets and displayed pictures of what they can do. They had several radios operating on emergency power; HF, VHF & UHF. At one of the events, we tuned into the 20M rebroadcast of the landing of the space shuttle and had it on an external speaker. The events were a success and ARES received a round of thanks from Emergency
Management.
