Minutes of Spring 2002 IRCC Meeting
April 7, 2002

The Spring Meeting was held in the Indianapolis Chapter of American
Red Cross at 441 E. 10th Street, Indianapolis, IN.
The meeting was called to order at 2:00 PM by Chair Vicki Rudicel
(KB9OME).
A sign in sheet was passed and self introductions followed.
Roll Call:
A roll call was conducted by the Secretary, WA0JTL using the current
member information on file. Corrections and additions to the member list
was requested.
Moment of Silence :
A moment of silence was observed for Silent Keys; KB9OMC .
Approval of Minutes :
The minutes from the October 14, 2001 meeting were distributed for
approval. The motion to approve carried by a unanimous voice vote.
Officer’s Reports:
Vice Chair W8ISH;
A Disaster Communications Workshop was planned for March 2002
but schedule put on hold when discovered that Marion County was also
planning an activity in March per N9FEB. SEMA was also working on plans
for workshops but details still forming as of this meeting.
Secretary WA0JTL;
The secretary requested updates on club information via application
forms.
Treasurer K9DUR;
KB9OME asked for Audit Committee volunteers for audit to take place
immediately following meeting. K9MCM, K9RU, K9ZX volunteered.
K9DUR reviewed 4/4/2002 treasurers' report.
Motion to accept report passed by unanimous voice vote.
Committee Reports
Constitution
K9DUR reported that input has been requested but little received. K9DUR
was directed to proceed with available input.
Bison Stampede
K9ZX reported that the HCARES club is proceeding with the planning.
The date is being firmed up and advertisements will follow date selection.
Most probable date is late September, 28th.
Amateur of Year Award
Call for committee volunteers for AOY 2002. K9DUR, W8ISH, K9ZBM volunteered.
Question from floor about previous AOY award winners availability.
WA0JTL was asked to review available IRCC Meeting minutes from the past
and create a list to post on IRCC web page.
Technical Excellence Award
Call for volunteers for TEA 2002. K9DUR, W8ISH, K9ZBM volunteered.
New Business
New SM
K9ZBM announced his unopposed appointment as IN Section Manager effective
on 07/01/2002. K9ZBM directed WA0JTL to update the INARRL web site with
this information.
Hoosier Courtesy Award
K9ZBM raised issue of Hoosier Courtesy Award to group. Award activity
has been low. Discussion followed on criteria for award, methods of nomination
and selection method. A motion to move this award to the IRCC Award Committee
was passed by unanimous voice vote. The IRCC Award Committee was directed
to research and re-invent if necessary the Hoosier Courtesy Award.
April 2002 Meeting Location
KB9SNG volunteered the services of the Marion County EOC for the next
meeting on October 6, 2002. KB9SNG will confirm with WA9STB and reply to
KB9OME.
Old Business:
IRCC Incorporation Status
K9DUR reported that the paperwork has been sent to the State with no
response yet. K9DUR is to follow up with State.
Field Day Award
K9RU asked about status of IN Field Day Award. Issue raised at Fall
2001 meeting. Results of Field Day will not be known until publication
later in year. Issue Tabled .
Announcements
K9ZBM announced discussion among ARRL mentors that a "Terrorism and
Amateur Radio Response" type class may be added in future.
K9RU worked the School Club Roundup. Approximately 150 schools kids
were worked world wide. No Indiana schools were found to be active.
KB9OME advised all to review Feb. 2002 QST article with W9JOY.
K9DUR announced that assistance is requested for the communications
along the route of the Hovercraft National Competition River Cruise from
Terre Haute to Lafayette.
