Minutes of Meeting IRCC

The Fall Meeting was held in the Howard County EMA Building at
120 E Mulberry St., Kokomo, IN.
The meeting was called to order at 2:00 PM by Chair Vicki Rudicel
(KB9OME).
A sign in sheet was passed and self introductions followed.
Roll Call:
A roll call was conducted by the Secretary, WA0JTL using the current
member information on file. Corrections and additions to the member list
was requested.
Moment of Silence :
A moment of silence was observed for Silent Keys; K9SUB, WD9OUI, K9MEL
.
Approval of Minutes :
The minutes from the April 1, 2001 meeting were distributed for approval.
The motion to approve carried by a unanimous voice vote.
Officer’s Reports:
Vice Chair W8ISH;
The AOY 2001 Committee will meet after today’s IRCC meeting to complete
the selection.
The 2001 AOY presentation will be at 11 AM during the IRCC Forum at
the Fort Wayne Hamfest.
Also, a call was made for volunteers to the Membership Committee.
Secretary WA0JTL;
The secretary requested updates on club information.
Treasurer K9DUR;
The budget was presented for discussion and approval.
The motion to approve carried by a unanimous voice vote.
The Constitution Committee is in progress of assessing potential
changes. At this time the committee chair is awaiting feedback from the
committee members.
The IRCC incorporation paperwork has been submitted to the State of
Indiana. When the State responds on the application a check will be written
by the treasurer. KB9OME requested that the current draft be made available
on the IRCC webpage. K9DUR will e-mail to WA0JTL.
New Business
IRCC Directors Election
Three Directors terms expire in 2001; W9JUJ, K9RU, N9VXV.
K9ZBM nominated all three Directors for the 2002-2005 term.
All three nominees agreed to run.
K9MCM moved to unanimously vote to accept the tree nominees. The motion
passed by a unanimous voice vote.
ARRL Central Division Assistant Directors
KB9OME announced the Indiana Section Assistant Director appointments
by the Central Division Director,W9GIG. KB9OME, W8ISH, K9RU, WB9VPG,
K9ZBM and KA9OKT will be the eyes and ears of the Director in Indiana
.
Emergency Communications Updates
K9ZBM announced several topics.
Indiana Section ARES/Emergency Net will be called the 4th Sunday each
month @ 13:00Z on 3.910 MHz. The net is open to all and EC’s are encouraged
to check in.
SET 2001 was conducted on October 6. The SEC goal was to exercise the
NTS system. A message was sent to all EC’s in Indiana. Some replies were
sent via the internet even though the handling instructions stated reply
via NTS.. The concern is internet service as well as telephone for ISP
dial-up could be interrupted in an actual incident. All clubs were encouraged
to assess the local traffic handling capabilities and to address training.
Emergency Communications Presentation
W8ISH announced that HCARES club in Noblesville will have K9ZBM, Indiana
SEC, as the guest speaker at the November 3, 2001 club meeting. The topic
is emergency communications preparedness. Adjacent clubs were encouraged
to attend the meeting.
April 2002 Meeting Location
K9MCM volunteered the services of the Red Cross Disaster Radio Group
for the next meeting.
The address is 441 E. 10th in Indianapolis.
Old Business:
IRCC Webpage
KB9OME called for suggestion for promotion of the IRCC webpage.
K9DUR suggested promotion of the Speakers Bureau.
IRCC Membership Fee
Much discussion about the 2002 fee. A question was raised on whether
the 2002 membership would also be free. The Conclusion was that $7.50 is
not much for any club to pay. KB9OME announced the intent to create a cover
letter to be sent with an application to solicit clubs to join IRCC.
PRB1
K9JZZ was not available for this meeting. KB9OME wants to discuss issue
at Fort Wayne Hamfest Forum.
Workshops
W8ISH projected the potential for a workshop on Emergency Preparedness
in the first quarter of 2002. The format of the workshop is still TDB.
Discussion followed on the examples of inter county amateur radio assistance.
K9MCM suggested a field day type setup in multiple sites for a PR event
for Public Officials. The June Police and Fire Games may be a potential.
