| The Indiana Radio Club Council is proud to again present an Indiana
Amateur Radio Operator with the IRCC Technical Excellence Award. This award is presented
to a Hoosier Ham who has used their technical expertise to advance Amateur Radio in their
club and community. Over the past three months we have received nominations from around the state. This year's winner comes from Southeastern Indiana. In fact, he holds the distinction of being the worlds youngest ham at age five in 1976. For the past 27 years he has been sharing his love of the hobby with adults and children as well. As a teacher he has motivated many young adults into seeking careers in science. WIthin the past two years our outstanding amateur and his students were honored to have one of their experiments carried off into space aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis/ Astronauts aboard the International Space Station experimented with growing protein crystals to be used in the development of new drugs that may cure various digestive disorders. Our award winner recently started the amateur radio club at Bloomington High School which has been recognized as one of the "ARRL Big Projects". He continues to call on his technical expertise while helping with various public service events in Monroe County. It is with great pleasure to present the Indiana Radio Club Council 2003 Technical Excellence Award to Neil Rapp, WB9VPG. |
