2001 IRCC Outstanding Amateur of the Year

Dave Littlejohn,  N9FMD

Our 2001 amateur of the year shares many of the same outstanding traits of each of our eight nominees.   Active in kids day, a leader in annual field day operations.  This nominee has held various club offices and continues to develop novice classes and exam sessions.  Politically, this  active ham has not only taken the story of amateur radio to city leaders but has solicited the support of congressional representatives as well.

Over several years,, our outstanding ham has shown great interest in emergency communications.  This has led to involvement in groups like ARES, Skywarn, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and the Civil Air Patrol. Our outstanding amateur of the year has arranged direct radio contact with the local sheriff department during severe weather.

During his 39-years as an amateur radio operator he has continually worked behind the scenes to promote  amateur radio and to increase its effectiveness in service to the community. Earlier this year, he was honored  with the coveted Brentlinger award, given by the Wabash Valley Amateur Radio Association.

It is these  accomplishments and many others that brings us to this moment as we proudly present  the 2001 IRCC Outstanding Amateur of the Year Award to  David Littlejohn--N9FMD.
